Circles

Sunday, October 23, 2016

I painted these circles with random watercolour techniques with no point of it in mind and decided to just share them on my Instagram and blog without much explanation as this sudden project was random. But, as I'm typing this, it just struck me how circles can mean so much things like the circle of life and growing older- and I can't help but be nostalgic.

On The Road: A Photo Diary

Monday, September 12, 2016
photos, editing and writing by Kathrynne Yu

Hello everyone!

When a three day weekend comes about, what do my family and I do? Go on a road trip, of course! So yesterday we went on a road trip to Nuvali (which is our go-to road trip destination) and I brought my camera with me- since we've been to Nuvali so much already, there wasn't really anything new to take a photo of. But yesterday, I just decided to take photos from inside the car and these photos came out a lot better than I expected it to be. Not only that, but yesterday was a lot different and it was actually pretty breathtaking- we saw a rainbow and the skies were just beautiful! Needless to say, it's gonna pretty depressing to go back to school tomorrow.

Anyway, hope you like this photo diary as much as I do!

The 5 Stages Of Growth

Sunday, September 4, 2016
poster and collage art by Kathrynne Yu

Hello everyone!

I'm so excited to share this project that I've been working on for quite some time now- a collage collection! I first became interested in collage art when I came across Reese Lansangan's music and eventually, collage art- she was definitely a huge inspiration. Although I know that most of the time, collages are used to accompany articles but in my opinion, collage art should be a type of visual story; self explanatory! So here is my very first collage collection, it's about the different stages of growth and the transitions you'd usually need to go through to achieve growth.

Escaping Reality

Monday, August 22, 2016

artwork, photography, writing and editing by Kathrynne Yu

Whenever I find myself lacking inspiration for my illustrations, going through a stressful or boring time in my life, I look through all my vacation photos again. Why? Because it reminds me of the good and stress-free memories- and it really comforts and helps me escape from reality. So as I flipped through my album of vacation photos, I found some gems (that honestly really surprised me since I didn't post them yet) and I automatically felt better and inspired to make some illustrations based on these photos that I took.

Top 4 Albums

Wednesday, July 6, 2016

Hello everyone!

I feel like time's been passing by so fast lately that it's almost like blur already and to be honest with you, sometimes the only thing I remember from a certain day is the album I put on instead of the actual events.

Hello everyone!

Notice something new? Yup, I've been wanting to change the look on my blog for quite some time now and I finally got to do it! I hope you like the all-new Positivity In Life. Also, I'll be trying to post better content of course. I was thinking of changing by blog name but I can't really think of one yet, I had "ardent" in mind, but I don't really know.

My Watercolour Works!

Wednesday, June 1, 2016
Sadly, summer is coming to an end for students in the Philippines. As I re-evaluate my summer, I can say that it wasn't as productive as last year. Although, on the bright side, I was able to focus on some things that I was too busy to do when I was in school- like, photography, graphic design, illustration, watercolour and so on!

If you remember from my last post, I said that I didn't really have a traditional style yet, but I'm proud to say that I've finally found my style, and watercolour will be my medium! Yay! I hope you guys like it, and if you want to see more of my art, check out my Instagram.

Also, sadly, I won't be continuing my modern Disney princesses series anymore since I want to focus on my watercolour more, so sorry about that! :( but before I did decide to end my series, I still had one last addition that I only posted on my Instagram, and if you weren't able to see it, here it is:

Modern Disney Princesses (Part 1)

Thursday, May 19, 2016

Hello everyone! As promised, here is my very first post after I've decided to turn my blog to an art blog. Yay! This is a really exciting step for me. So this is probably my favourite medium and style that I use. I just go onto photoshop CS6 then I just use the pen tool to draw these! This is my only constant style digitally since I only rekindled my passion for traditional illustration again just a few days ago, I haven't really been able to discover a style yet. But I'll certainly update you guys once I've found it! :)

Ever since I saw this post on Buzzfeed about how Disney princesses would look like if they were set in the modern times, I really wanted to do my very own version. But, at the time, I hadn't really been into illustration and I didn't have photoshop yet. I only remembered the idea again when I was fixing up my Instagram. (Check it out to see more of my artwork)

These are just 3 out of the many Disney princesses, so I'll just post the other Disney princesses when I have the time! Hope you guys like it!

Decisions

Tuesday, May 17, 2016

I've been blogging for almost two years now, and when I started this blog- I didn't really know what to do with it. In short, I didn't really have a niche, I only started it because I had a friend who also had a blog and she inspired me to make one of my own. Writing wasn't really my passion either- so I just had my blog to document the different happenings in my life or just post some random thing I thought about. My blog never really had a purpose. Looking back, it was really cringe-y to read.

I've always had an interest in art, all the different kinds of it- photography, graphic design, painting and especially, illustration. Recently, I was able to rekindle my passion for illustration and I was able to put it together with my new passion for graphic designing. I mostly do it digitally, I draw with the pen tool in photoshop. (I mostly draw people now, but I'll still continue making objects on photoshop for the sake of my Society6 shop!) But I've also been doing it traditionally then I sometimes color it on photoshop.

So, now.... drumroll please!

POSITIVITY IN LIFE IS....

Of course I won't stop posting about the things I usually blog about, but this time it'll mainly be about art! I really hope you guys will like this change! (I might also change my blog name to a far more artsy name)

Posts will be up somewhere this week, but for the mean time,

My Society6 Shop!

Monday, May 2, 2016

Hello everyone! So as some of you may know, I've recently gotten into graphic designing. I was always so interested in it and now that I got to download Photoshop- I got to practice and learn. I can say that this may be one of my few passions (alongside business!)

I always made a lot of graphics during my free time and considered it a hobby, but then I always felt the need to share it with others and I really wanted to take it a step further. So, I ended up making my very own Society6 shop! Like I've said earlier, business and graphic designing are two of my passions- so this is basically a dream come true for me!

You can visit my shop here!
I'm really hoping that you guys would like the stuff!

Custom Avatars For Sale!

Thursday, April 21, 2016

Hello everyone! As some of you know- I've been interested in graphic designing for quite some time now. (Check out my online portfolio to see more of my works!) For the past months, I've been creating a variety of things, but the idea of making custom avatars only came to me earlier.

For a cheap price of 3 USD, you can have your own custom avatar too! It's really cute, unique and it's perfect to use for a profile photo- or maybe you can use it for your blog as well! It will be based off a picture you will send me once you have paid (I will discuss the payment process with your through email!). Then you can also make requests about the background and anything else.

The package will come with:
-a JPEG file (your avatar + any background that you want)
-a PNG file (your avatar with a transparent background)

Please email me at kathrynnevictoria@outlook.com if you're interested!

Here is a sample:

Iceland 2016

Saturday, April 16, 2016

Hello everyone! As I mentioned in my previous post, my next post would be about my trip to Iceland, so here it is! Iceland is probably one of the most beautiful and unique places I've ever been in- you can experience all four seasons in one day! We stayed here for about 8 days- and it was probably the most adventurous 8 days of my life by far. We explored Iceland in a circle- we arrived at Reykjavik (the only considered city of Iceland, which we weren't able to have a tour in) then from there we went to the different parts of Iceland, then by the end of the tour, we went back to Reykjavik to leave for London. (Which we were in for 4 days, but I won't make a blog post for it anymore since we mostly just went shopping since we went there 3 years ago and had the tour back then. Hahaha.) So anyways, here's my trip in a nutshell! And to be completely honest, I wasn't really able to catch some of the names of the places we visited so I won't be listing them down anymore.

The geyser:

The first waterfall we went to:

Our first lunch in Iceland- a very filling salad in Hotel Ranga:

Another stunning waterfall, with rainbows:

For this shot, I had to climb up- but I didn't climb up all the way anymore and see the back of the waterfall because I was already starting to get kind of scared. (Hahaha)

The well known and breathtaking Black Sand Beach:

The glaciers:

Some mackerel fish for appetizer:

The lamb for the main course:

More glaciers (If I'm not mistaken):
Oh and we also climbed a not so steep mountain and there was a great view from there.

Another waterfall (Yup, there are a lot of waterfalls):

It's like every turn there's a beautiful sight to see.

A snowy day:

On Saturday, we went for a bath in the hot springs.

On Sunday we weren't able to go to much places anymore since it was Easter Sunday and most of the places were closed, so we went to this Seal Museum.  (And I have to say that seals may be my new favourite animals! lol!)

A small, old and lovely church:

A fjord we passed by:

In this part, we went down to see (not surprisingly) another breathtaking view!

On Monday, we went on a walk (which went in a circle) which was supposedly short, but then it was really cold that day so it seemed twice as long than it should've been hahaha.

For our last stop- we were able to overlook the border and then we also walked around the places near it.

So that was about it for our trip to Iceland, it was definitely a trip that was unforgettable!
