Ask a Blogger Part 4

Thursday, June 18, 2015

This part's question is... "What inspired you to make your own blog?"

As for how My Life In Snippets came to be...

I've enjoyed writing for as long as I can remember - I love that the little alphabet of 26 letters results in millions of words that can be put together in countless ways to make stories, messages or art, even! During the first three years of college, I attempted to start a blog - but education always found a way to stop me. Finally, after reading and hearing from a few quite motivational bloggers, I decided to get serious. I purchased a domain, as well as hosting and started writing! I love sharing life events, travel adventures, opinions and knowledge! My love for writing and inspiration found in my daily life adventures keeps My Life In Snippets going strong!

I was inspired to start my own blog because I wanted to have a way to share informatively, mind.body.spirit. for all those needing help in any of those directions. Through my trials and triumphs as a human (first), I hope to inspire and enlighten along the way. And whatever I learn, then share - if that can then be passed along to more folks, it creates a stream of positive thinking wherein change - real change - may happen in this world. Good gosh, I hope I am doing that, daily. From life
lessons to hair tips and everything in between - informed.sharing.always.

I love to write, especially love to journal.  I used to be great about writing in my journal, but would miss days here and there.  I realized that typing would be faster and easier.  My blog was not public at first as I used it for a repository for my thoughts and life happenings.  The journal entries started to form into "stories", so I started telling family and friends about it...unlocking it to the public.  That was the hardest thing for me to do...it was like opening my life up to strangers!  Now my blog has turned into so much more!

I started blogging originally because so many of my friends and family would ask, "How do you always know about the cool things to do?" or say, "Your family is always doing such cool things!"  I wanted to be able to share our adventures, show other people that it was easy to find them, and encourage them to get out of the house and spend time together as a family.

I have always been a rather articulate person. From the time when I was able to write to now, I have always created small short stories and poems. The time where I felt at peace was when I was writing my thoughts or the events that occurred on that day in my pink, sparkly princess journal. As the years progressed, I became a magnet to everything fashion. I would spend my own money purchasing fashion magazines and going through them repeatedly.  Summer of last year, I began to notice these "fashion accounts" on Instagram. I went through a few of these posts and clicked on a link on one of the account's profiles. It took me to this beautiful blog decorated with logos and pictures of outfits, home décor, and crafts. I read article after article. I kept on checking out other's blogs and falling in love all over again. My discovery of the blogging world led me to think 'that is something I would like to do'. I did not know how much work blogging would be. I clicked on the 'create an account' button on blogger and began playing around with all the buttons and tools. I have been introduced to the blogging community who I couldn't be blessed enough to be able to be in. This community has helped me grow my blog and my own self. I created my blog, because I was inspired by other ladies. Through my own blog, I hope to do the same thing.

I was inspired to start a blog because I wanted to be my own boss. I've only had one job and I realized I didn't like taking orders from other people and doing things their way. I wanted to do things my way. Also, I live with Borderline Personality Disorder and blogging is a way I can express my creativity and feelings in a healthy way. I want to make money, as well.

I started writing shortly after my twins were born. They were born really early (25 weeks) so I used my writing as an emotional outlet while they were in the hospital. It was also a great way to let all our friends and family know what was happening.
After they were released (91 and 93 days later,) I found I really enjoyed writing and it was very therapeutic for me. It has turned into a daily blog about our life, as well as inspiration for others going through a difficult pregnancy or hospital stay.

I actually have an entire blog post (with video!!) as to why I started blogging (click the hyperlink to see the post/watch the video!! <3). To sum things up, I suffered from a knee injury from playing field hockey that prevented me from wearing cute heels and skinny jeans, as I needed to wear sneakers and gym clothes as often as possible to have proper shoe support and loose-fitting clothing around my knee. I was feeling depressed because I felt like I was losing my identity by being unable to express myself fully. So, I decided that writing about fashion would be the next best thing! However, I realized that I also wanted to write about other topics, too, such as lifestyle-related subjects - and that's how my blog developed!

I've been crafting and creating since the time I learned to walk. I can't remember a time when I wasn't working on one project or another. Then when I learned to write, I got very involved in writing my own short stories, journaling, and writing essays. I'd even write book reports on books that I read, for no reason other that to write. As an adult, I had people tell me to start a blog for years, but I just didn't know if it was for me. Boy, was I wrong! It is exactly what I've loved doing, all mixed into one. I also love photography, so I've been getting more involved in that as well through my blog. Now, I have been blogging for about a year and a half, with no intentions on stopping! It's such a great way to get my creative spirit out there, for the world to see!

I have always journaled, blogging felt like a natural step in the continuation of my journey. I am a very shy person, until I start writing and then the world opens up!

I think what inspired me to open my blog is my passion to share my story, my thoughts and to form a bond with other people who go through similar experiences and share my passions. Blogging is an outlet for me to write about my life but also to discover more about myself, so when I was ready to do that more consistently I opened my blog!

I started blogging in middle school, for the sole purpose of sharing my stories with an audience. Now, I share all my various creative endeavors on the blog. It nice to be able to share with others the things I enjoy doing and what I have learned. I like to share the various joys in my everyday life, adventures in babysitting, love for books, music, and creating.
